U.S. Investigating 2010 Prius Brakes

Problems for Toyota Motor Corp. continued to mount this week as the U.S. Department of Transportation said Thursday it was investigating brakes on the 2010 Prius hybrid cars.

The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration said it received 124 reports of problems from consumers, Bloomberg News reported.

The Japanese vehicle manufacturer said in January it would recall 2.3 million vehicles to fix reported problems with accelerator pedals and close down several production lines until it had a new pedal assembly.

Sales of Toyota vehicles in the United States fell 16% in January.
